Unless you were under a rock, or are a helpless devote to Baseball, you know the NFL is about to kick off another explosive season tomorrow. And unfortunately, like many of you, I couldn't help but search and scan through the near countless amount of Season Predictions posted by "The Experts".
Needless to say, as a Bears Fan, I wasn't pleased.
The majority seemed to opt for our Monsters of the Midway finishing around the 4-win mark, with the most generous one flat-out saying we might get back up to .500...if Devin Hester returns 10 kicks for Touchdowns. They took the time to blast our defense for their pre-season performance, and seemed to assume that Rex Grossman & Kyle Orton's QB Carousel would continue all the way to the Pro-Bowl.
Personally, I'm getting sick of the negativity. So in effort to bring about an amount of fairness to Sports Prognostication, I'm posting the first "Best-Case Scenario" Schedule Prediction, for the Chicago Bears. This is how the schedule will play out if Orton DOES play like he did against San Fransisco, the Defense goes back to '06 form, and every remains healthy. (God help Mike Brown).
Game 1: @ Colts - L
Game 2: @ Panthers - W
Game 3: Buccaneers - W
Game 4: Eagles - L
Game 5: @ Lions - W
Game 6: @ Falcons -W
Game 7: Vikings -W
Bye Week: (A.K.A. Mike Brown recovery time)
Game 8: Lions - W
Game 9: Titans - W
Game 10: @ Packers - W
Game 11: @ Rams - W
Game 12: @ Vikings - L
Game 13: Jaguars - W
Game 14: Saints - L
Game 15: Packers - W
Game 16: @ Texans - W
OK, go ahead & say it. It's a biased outlook. But before you do, take a close look at this schedule. A REAL close look. Seems that most of the Playoff threats we face will be at home, doesn't it? And most of our road games will come against teams we either roughed up in our '06 Super Bowl run, or teams who are virtual locks for a Top 5 pick. In other words, the NFL & Football Gods have smiled down on us because this schedule is tailor-made for the Bears to commence a Playoff run. And given the fact that the NFC North's greatest QB is now living it up in the Big Apple (J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS!), there shouldn't be a team in our division that could cause us much trouble. As for the 'Adrian Peterson' argument that Viking fans will bring up, I offer this bit of fact. In the two games combined against the Bears last year, Mr. 'All-Day' rushed for over 400 yards, while Tavaris Jackson barely passed for 200. We know that now...
...And unless by some miracle you acquire Randy Moss again, don't expect AP to pass 100 on the ground without paying for it.
And to my fellow ChiCity Sports Fans, Bear Down.
